A night with Harry Styles

I am still in shock the fact I am actually writing this post. It has to be said I was never really a One Direction fan but under recommendation from another blogger, I decided to give Harry Styles' solo album as a listen and instantly fell in love with it.

The songs are nothing like you would expect from someone previously in a boy band. They are what I like to call "real songs" that were wrote and sung by Harry himself. The album reminds me of something from George Harrison, Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan and even a hint of Johnny Cash.

I don't really go to gigs a lot which is a shame so by the time I found out that Harry Styles was doing a gig at the SSE Hydro, I just assumed it was sold out. I was flicking through my twitter one day last week and I noticed that The Prince and Princess Hospice were running a competition ran by the September Foundation so I clicked the link, donated my £5 to the hospice and entered the competition. I honestly did not think I was going to win but on Friday night I got a message saying that I had won 2 tickets to the gig. I was absolutely buzzing! It was a win-win situation too.

We dropped by Lebowskis in Finnieston to pick up the tickets and have a couple of vodka cranberries before walking along to the Hydro. When we got to the hydro, we felt so old! People must have been thinking we were there with our little sisters or even children! Grabbed a hot dog, a glass of wine and a vodka. £15.80 it was in total. I honestly could not believe it! The glass of wine looked like a Calippo and didn't taste as good as one either. That aside, I still drunk it. £5.50 for a teeny glass of wine, damn right I did (rant over)!

Mabel was the support act and what a wee star she is! I didn't recognise who it was until she rang "Fine Line" and "Finders Keepers" which are regularly blasted in my car because they are excellent tunes for carpool karaoke. She also sang a version of "Fix You" originally by Coldplay and literally hardly anyone knew the words except me and Colette who put a show for the young ones.

When Harry came out on stage, I have never heard a collective sound of squeals like it. It was frightening and deafening. Harry came out wearing a kilt! On yerself pal! He looked brilliant, and of course I had to shout "Are you a true Scotsman, Harry?". He started the gig off with "Only Angel" and what a performer he is! Definitely, reminded me of Rod Stewart. I wasn't too bothered about staying to the end (Sorry Harry Bhoy) but I really wanted to hear my faves from the album which are "Meet me in the Hallway" and " Sweet Creature". If you haven't heard those songs, definitely give them a listen.

All in all, it was a fantastic night. Shoutout to Colette for coming with me, she didn't really know any of his songs and listened to a couple the night before but I managed to lure her out with the promise of a sesh. We left the gig early and when the Polo Lounge stayed for 1 drink and went back to my flat for a couple of beers, a munchie box and a big auld heart to heart in my kitchen. One of the best Saturday nights I've had in a long time.

Holiday Wishlist

I am going on holiday to Florida in a few weeks and I was planning on waiting til after I came back to make my return but hey ho I am feeling inspired today and I'd just thought that I'd share with you all what pieces I am looking to take away with me.

 SHORTS AND SKIRTS

I honestly cannot go on holiday without a skirt - it would be just really weird and with that said - I really cannot go on holiday without a denim skirt so I have decided to throw myself a challenge and expand my skirt collection. Linen which makes it perfect for those humid nights! A good length which means I can wear to work in the future if need be! I love the tie at the waist, I actually have a couple of pairs of the trousers with this and they look very flattering on. For £29 this will deffos be coming to America with me! Yup its denim but in my defence... its white denim haha! I just instantly fell in love with this skirt (below), you can mix and match it with day to night pieces. It will really bring my tan too and I just think its a really simple piece that works the with pretty much anything.

I personally have really big thighs so I absolutely hate wearing shorts but for Florida they are very practical especially whilst walking around the parks and getting off and on rides. It's hard to get shorts that bang on trend but also sporty and practical thanks ASOS - you have answered my short dreams!

DRESSES

Onto dresses now, I love a wee summer dress. Very minimal effort needed to style up. I like to the let my dresses do the talking. As my style evolves I am starting to go for that minimalistic approach. Simple outfits are still chic. You can dress them up, dress them down perfect for nighttime or a shopping day around the Florida mall or the outlets!

TOPS/TEES

Of course this a shopping/sporty holiday so plain tees are the top of my list. You can dress them up and down, wear with short, skirts or trousers! I have so many plain tees in basically the colours of the rainbow and I seriously urge everyone to have their own collection! Pastel pinks and stripes are very much a SS18 trend this season and I cant get enough! I cant remember the last time i bought something that was not pastel or stripey haha!

Taking a dip into swimwear now. I usually go for bikinis for my holiday for this one I think ill mix and match my swimwear between bikinis and swimsuits. We are going swimming with dolphins so again looking for that balance for active as well as chicness of sunbathing! I love to purchase swimwear that will always be timeless! I think going to the bold but simple pieces means that I can use them again and again for future getaways.

SUNGLASSES

There is no particular style of sunglasses that I like. I basically just go with what suits my face. I have a round face so big chunky oversized glasses l like to go with to basically hide or something with a big lense and a round frame are also flattering. I feel really sassy with a good frame on! Big, dramatic and fabulous is how i want to feel in a pair of sunnies! I would like to invest in a pair of Dolce and Gabannas but i just do not trust myself that they wont get broken or lost!
