The Boozy Cow Review

Since we were so close to Edinburgh, me and my geordie decided to nip into Edinburgh for a spot of lunch and shopping.
I have been dying to try The Boozy Cow for ages so as we were in Edinburgh we took the opportunity to go along and try it out. Proper relaxed and chilled pub vibes ever from the minute you walk in. Greeted to lovely welcoming staff we got a table for two and started to have a swatch at the menu. It was so hard to decide what to get. The menu is unreal. As everyone probably knows by now, I love burgers. Everything is very reasonably prices too. They had a the Hulk movie playing so right away my Marvel man felt right at home.

How delightful does that look. It tasted even better. I got the BC Burger (£7.50) and Skinnies with thin fries with BC seasoning (£3). Ross got the Classic Cheese Burger with his own portion of Skinnies. In the bag are Popchicken (£8.95), we can't have a meal without chicken. The food was outstanding. Not in Edinburgh that much but this is my new fave place like I will be coming to Edinburgh just to come back here.

Blythswood Square Hotel - Cocktail Tasting Event

It was very much a Monday funday for little freckly moi! First it was my absolutely breathtakingly beautiful fleurs from Mud Urban Flowers and then it was onto the stunning Blythswood Square Hotel to sip cocktails with Glasgow's elite.
I have to confess that before Monday I had never been to the Blythswood Square Hotel but I had only heard very good things about it so i was buzzing to go. One of my personal battles is time keeping. Time and i have a love/hate relationship, i am either very very early for things or i am very very late for things so yeah fab. Anyway, i ended up being 15 minutes late.. SOZ Blythswood! Welcomed by the loveliest of doormen and reception staff who directed me to the second floor to the Salon Bar. We each received four cocktails to try. Lucky us. I have to say that each of the them had a very refreshing taste which made them perfect choices as taster options due to the 25 degrees heat outside. Is there anything more perfect than a wee refreshing cocktail on a hot day.. um NO!

#blackdovebloggers

The southside of Glasgow called me back for one night only. Black Dove on Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands very kindly invited me along to the tasting event of their new menu. The menu was sent out prior the event so it was a great chance to get a good swatch as to what was going to be served up for us bloggers.
I had absolutely no idea how to get to Shawlands via train, there is like 3 train stations in the Shawlands area but good auld google helped me out and Pollockshaws East was the winner. I got to Glasgow Central looked at the board, nowhere did it mention this train station. Back onto google i went and took a gamble with Crossmyloof. Got the 6pm train from Glasgow Central and arrived in Crossmyloof at 10 past 6. The train station was roughly 5-10 minute walk away from Black Dove so the nice wee stroll killed some time as i was 50 minutes early. So as i was super early I went into the pub next door James Tassie, ordered a wee drink and phoned my mother for a chat.
Had a very warm welcome from the Black Dove staff. The restaurant was lit by candle light was really lovely and stylish inside, took my seat and was given a wee glass of prosecco which was probably was the best glass of prosecco i have ever had. Black Dove is a very unique restaurant, there is nowhere in Glasgow like it. Very much tapas vibes but it's not your patatas bravas dishes, its the family favourites. An excellent option for a  date night or a lunch or  even if you want to dine out for breakfast they offer that too on a Sunday between the hours of 10am - 12:30pm.

The pictures speak for themselves. The food was an absolute dream. Everything tasted amazing, cooked to perfection. My absolute favourite that i cant stop craving A DAY LATER is the Pork Belly Scotch Egg with Chorizo Jam and Apple Salad. This was actually unreal. I don't even eat or like scotched eggs but hand on heart this was absolutely outstanding. I really encourage Black Dove to start selling jars to that Chorizo Jam. The Lamb Rump is up there too in second place, possibly joint first place, it was melt in the mouth kinda stuff. A M A Z I N G! Favourite dessert was the Honey and Morello Cheesecake. That Honeycomb was out of this world.
Last night i got to meet fellow Glasgow bloggers and they couldn't have been more welcoming or friendly. A genuinely lovely bunch of people. It was a great night i really hope we all get to meet again.
And lastly but not least a MASSIVE thank you to the Black Dove team who took such good care of us and cooked us amazing food and made us lovely cocktails. I have ranted and raved all morning about how amazing the place is! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for inviting me along. I will deffos be back for those scotched eggs and chorizo jam.

Missoula Glasgow Tasting Event

I just want to start off by saying a huge thank you to Abbie the marketing manager at Missoula Glasgow for inviting me along to the tasting event of their new menu. It was my first blogger event and it didn't disappoint.
Greeted with a prosecco reception and warm welcome from Missoula's lovely staff, me and the Geordie took our place at the table waiting for the other guests to arrive. Missoula have recently renovated and it is really chic and chilled inside.  We had the opportunity to peer at the menu and already i knew it was going to be a tough choice of what to order. The new menu has a create variety of foodie favourites as well as vegan friendly options too.

I met some really lovely people at the event, all had  great stories and had a such a laugh with everyone. We all talked and talked and almost forgot why we were there.
To start, I ordered the southern fried chicken goujons with mango and pineapple sauce with a sticky BBQ sauce. Now, i love my chicken.. A LOT. Chicken good. Salsa good. Sauce good. I really recommend this for a starter, it was a great portion size.

For main, I went for my go-to, a bacon cheeseburger, everything on the menu looked amazing i genuinely could not choose so went for the auld burger. Cooked to perfection, I am one of these people that judges a good burger on it's bun, like you need a good bun on your meat or the experience is ruined, again no disappointment here! The fries were just the way i liked them, very crispy. The burger came with pickle on the side but im not a pickle kinda gal so that stayed on the plate, the rest of the meal was scranned.

I feel like every time I look at a menu my eyes automatically go to the dessert section. Like I like to know what i'm getting for my dessert before I order my main, i'm weird.. i know dat. Anyhoo, I ordered the clotted cream cheesecake bites with raspberry coulis. They were melt in your mouth amazing.

After dinner, there was more alcohol on our table, from the prosecco and wine to the cocktails and shots. It was really my idea of heaven to be honest. 18596561_10211622542030812_115365744_o
Above is a miniature selection of cocktails, the family faves: mini mojito, mini cosmopolitan, mini french martini and mini bellini. How cute! Personally, cosmopolitans are my absolute fave, so i snatched that one but for those who want a wee variety, it's perfect!
All in all it was a really great night! Wined and dined and made some new friends. I could not recommend the new menu enough you really really really need to go try it all! Another massive thank you to Abbie and the Missoula team, yous were truly the perfect hosts!  I will definitely be returning for more food, more cocktails and a wee boogie in the club upstairs.
